Extracting crude oil is one of the toughest jobs in the world – both for people exposed to the arctic temperatures in Siberia or raging waves in the North Sea, but also for the materials, which have to withstand temperature, pressure, crude oil, hydraulic fluids and corrosive media such as hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide. The industry is also faced with even higher temperatures and pressures to come. VESTAMID® L from Evonik, a polyamide 12, which has already proved its capability for many years in vehicle piping systems, has also shown the ability to withstand the extreme stresses exerted in the crude oil and gas extraction fields. In this area of industry, in addition to polyamide molding compounds, we also offer the high-performance PEEK molding compound VESTAKEEP®.
Our new VESTAMID® NRG varieties for the oil and gas industry are tailored to produce large-diameter pipes. They demonstrate very consistent characteristics during processing without fluctuations, while their high melt stiffnesses pave the way for large pipe diameters of constant overall diameter.
When extracting crude oil, VESTAMID® NRG has proved its worth with the following properties, and stands out from other materials such as PA 11 due to the following features:
